MAKING THE ACESSORY (THE NAGINATA)

 

Now, I'm going to show you how I make the acessory, the Naginata. Here is the picture I am referrencing.
It's a basic weapon, so the meshing won't be too bad. The first thing I am going to do is to make the texture for it, and like the body and face textures, it will look a bit odd. This is because I want it to wrap around my acessory.

When making a texture for an acessory or add-on, they need to be certain sizes. I can't remember them, but I just use an pre-existing .bmp like a head or body so I don't have to, and draw over it. And this also needs to be saved in 256.

So I will start with the body .bmp I already made for her and save it as "naginata" in my projects folder in My Documents. Remeber where I saved the body .spj files too? I keep acessory bmps in there for the time being untill they are ready for SimShow.
Anyways....

I make the staff section, the blade section, and the ribbons separately in the .bmp, since I will texture map them separately. When I am finished, this is what I have come up with:

 

Doesn't look like much, I know. But it will be much better when it's put on a mesh. (I hope.....)Anyways, it's converted to 256 and ready for a mesh, so that part is next.
