In the picture, the naginata looked like it was as tall as she was, and by jove, it looks pretty close here, too. Just a slight scale....

Now, I have to arrange it to sit in her right hand. But the body doens't come with those. Now what?

Simshow has them! In the CMX3 folder, they are there in .skn format. All you need to do is convert them and have them in a folder where you can get to them for MS3D.

I load up the right hand and position the naginata as I see fit.

Now my work in MS3D is finally done now, for the moment. I can export the naginata (minus the body and hand, of course) and convert it to a .skn file as well. And so I export it to my Shi folder as "naginata", and close down MS3D. Yipee!!!!

I'm ready to convert now. I have already made a body without the naginata, and because I like the option of having either one, I will make a separate body model with one. (so she can jump in her closet and come out a super-hero, armed and vicious) According to my magic list, body number fafit534 is open.

After a rename of my file in the shi folder (some versions of MS3D export it as a 3ds due to a harmless bug, remember?) I am ready to open up SKN2OBJ.

I select the import .obj function. This will bring up a small box with blanks to fill in. Below is a picture and an explanation of what goes where and how to fill it out.

Now, to make sure you get the same exact file name for this next part, highlight the one you wrote in, right click and copy it. This way, there will be no typos.

Now select "import". The box disappears. Go back up to the file menu and select "save as". paste in the copied file name, minus the .skn part because this program does it for you, and it saves.

NOTE: If an error message comes up during this part, you proabably have too many vertices and faces. Thin down your work, and try it again.

Now we have made it into a .skn file! Those are the basics for any acessory you will make, constructing, texture mapping and importing. The only limit to it is what your are willing to make.

I've had enough for one day, take me home.
