For basic hair color changes, cutting and pasting is the way to go. Find the face you like, the hair you like (gender and age don't matter) and this is what you do.

I want to make Shannon into a blonde this time. (She may have more fun this way, you never know) So after digging through the .bmps to find a nice blond I like, I found one with one of the C007 men. I want to give her his hair.

Using the same selection process of "cutting" the hair, I isolate the hair section. Then I go to the man's .bmp and select all and copy it.

Going back to Shannon, in the edit menu, I choose to "PASTE INTO" the selection. This will take what I copied and paste it only into the area I chose. Many graphics programs have this option, so be not afraid if you aren't running Photo-Shop.

At first, it looks very bad. You can see that below. But there is always a way, so here we go.

Transforming the pasted section with the scale tool will fix this. Just male sure you have the pasted layer selected to work on. It won't look like it does in the picture there, because I accidentally had flattened the layers when I took the screen shot. Love that "History" tab! So make sure you have the pasted layer selected. It'll be the one with the guy's face on it.

Now choose to scale. This will put a nice box around it with "handles" to pull and shove. To get rid of the guy's eyes and ears, I will scale it down, that is, move only the bottom of the scale box, pulling the .bmp downward. Here's a pic of what I mean.

See how nicely that stretched? And now she can be blond. But then, I decide she's more firey than bubby, so I'll make her into a nice redhead instead. Using the Hue/Saturation tool (gotta love that!) I fix her up, do touch ups, use the airbrush to give her pink lipstick, and she ends up looking like this. Now she's as sassy as she wants to be. Convert it back to 256 colors and call it done.
Hopefully this helps you out, as you begin to get a grasp on your graphics program. Many features are similar on all of them, so definitely explore yours and find out what all the flashing lights and buttons do.
